Mackie's Basketball has been coached and managed by Brent Lale for the past 18 seasons. It took a while for the franchise to reach the St. Thomas Men's League Championship, but eventually figured out a winning formula a decade ago winning two championships. Brent is joined on his staff by his younger brother David (who won the playoff MVP twice).

Mackie's in Port Stanley Ontario has been a family run business for over 100 years.  Opened in 1911 by George and Ethel Mackie, it immediately became famous for its homemade Orangeade. The Mackie family had no children so in 1936 they sold the beach establishment to employee Ken Turnbull.

He owned it for another 40 years before the Phillips family took over in 1976. First Jeff Phillips, then his father Charlie took over, and now it is run by Jeff's sister and Charlie's daughter Cheryl Lale. Two of her sons Greg and David are now taking on leadership roles as part of the family business.
