11/18/2012

The St. Thomas Men's League Constitution.

Who is eligible?

- All players must be out of high school to be eligible to play in the league.

- Any player who plays in a game must be a member of the league.

- All players must have fees payed before Christmas break or they are not eligible to play.

- A player who owes money from a previous season must have all dues paid before they are eligible to rejoin league.

- All new players must participate in one tryout prior to the season. This allows all coaches to get a look at that new player.

- Returing players do not have to tryout but must commit  financially prior to the draft.

- Returning players in good standing will in most cases remain in Men's League. New players will fill the draft up to 54 players.

- A player who is forced to leave the league due to injury or work can receive a refund if a replacement is found.

- Players who were not drafted will go on a waiting list. If a player is needed, the coach will have his choice from the list.

Roster:

- Six teams of eight players will be chosen using the Lemon Draft.

- No team can start a game with less than five players.

- If a team is missing players, they can pick up a league member to bring their team to five players.  Can have up to six if   both teams agree they can have a bench player.

- The player that is picked up must have been drafted in the fourth round or lower. (If no one else is available, the opponent must agree that a top three round pick can play).

- In the playoffs, teams can pick up a player from the bottom 2 rounds to make up to five. Any other player must be agreed upon by the opposing coach.

- All players are entitled to play half the game. No one should sit for more than 10 minutes per half.

Playoffs:

- After the round robin portion of the playoffs, the top four teams will reach the semifinals.  The team with the best record will face the fourth seed. The second and third will face off in the other semifinal.

- Ties will be broken by head to head record.

- In a case where head to head records will not solve a tiebreak, point differential will be used.  The point differential will only involve games between the teams in the tiebreak scenerio.

- In a case where three teams are tied for final two playoff spots, both point differential and head to head will be used. The point differential will determine the 3rd seed, and head to head will determine 4th.

- The committee shall be made up of a League President, Vice President/Treasurer, and the six coaches.

- Should a tie breaking vote be required, that will be made by the League President

- The committee should  meet prior to the season, during the season, and after the season.
