THREE GAMES TO GO
12/16/2024

Three games to go, and a three-way tie at the top of the standings in the race for the Blair Clarke Memorial Trophy.

This week was huge for Elite Stars (11-6) who won two games against the top two teams in the league, to pull into a tie for top spot.

The Stars beat Amrbrose Pluming 71-68 in a great comeback victory Wednesday at Parkside Collegiate Institute.

The Plumbers looked like they would cruise to a win, and sole posessoin of the league lead when they jumped out to a 15-0 start to the game.

However they didn't score for the first seven minutes of the second, and by the middle of the third quarter, the Stars had tied the game at 34, then led 39-34.

The Stars would take the lead multiple times in the fourth quarter, but each time Steve Barton would answer with a three pointer for the Plumbers.
He hit a great step back three (his fourth of the quarter) but for some reason, the Plumbers chose to start fouling in a tie game, and putting the Stars on the line.

A few key free throws put it away, and the Stars held on for the three-point win.

Andrew Lynch and Kamal Aizimi each had 21 for the winners, while Barton (21 pts) and Tyler Annett (21) lead the way for the Plumbers (11-6) .

Cole-Munro Foods also has a share of the lead at 11-6 after a 92-72 blowout win over Talbot Trail Physiotherapy. The Trout jumped out to a 33-13 lead in the opening quarter, and kept that 20 point lead by the end of each of the four quarters.

Ryan Pflanzer lead the Trout with 27 points - a team which had three 20 point scorers.

Andrew Cole had 21 points, and rookie Karsten Groen had 20 for the winners.

Hogan Dao hit 11 three pointers in a losing cause for the Physiotherapists (8-9).

In the finale, Home Hardware won a close battle with Mackie's 83-73.  The score was closer than the final score indicates, as Mackie's trailed by three late in the game, when they had a player foul out leaving them with just four players in the final 1:30.

Jonn Leonard had 27 points and Mark Cummings 25 to lead four players in double digits for the Home Owners (7-10).

Brent Lale had 22 points and Brennen Fairbanks 20 for the OrangeAde's (3-14).
