The St. Thomas Men's Basketball League regular season has wrapped up and the playoffs will begin after the calendar flips to 2025.
Elite Stars Elgin are the Blair Clarke Memorial Trophy winners as regular season champions.
(L-R) Brian Apfelbeck, Rob Wakefield, Dan Schied, Johnny Rice, Matt O'Brien, Kamal Aizimi, Andrew Lynch, Jacob Beaton
Cole-Munro Foods finished with a share of the league's best record at 13-7 after destroying Mackie's in the season finale.
Ryan Pflanzer scored 47 points to lead five scorers in double-figures as he knocked down 11 three-pointers, and finished as the league leader in scoring (657 pts) and three-point field goal makes (130).
Andrew Cole had 18 points, Drake Bernardi (14), Alex Ryan (13) and Karsten Groen (12) as the game turned ugly really quick after a hot start gave the Trout a 47-24 lead at the break, and it only got bigger.
Nathan Friesen had 17 points to lead the OrangeAde's (4-16) who may actually be better than their record as they didn't win a single game without centre Scott Ross who will return for the post-season.
Home Hardware showed they could be a dangerous team in the post-season after an 86-74 win over Blair Clarke Memorial Trophy winners Elite Stars Elgin.
In a close game, which was just a two-point lead for the Home Owners (9-11) entering the fourth quarter, they outscored the Stars (13-7) 28-18 in the final frame to seal the win.
Rookie Connor Hodgins-Depont had 29 points to capp off a great first season in the league, while Jonn Leonard had 21 for the winners.
Brian Apfelbeck had 22 points and Rob Wakefield 16 for the Stars who despite the loss finish as the regular season champs.
In the other contest, Ambrose Plumbing won a battle 57-51 over Talbot Trail Physiotherapy. Points were hard to come by in this one but the Plumbers (12-8) maintained a lead after mid-way through the second quarter. They'd extend that lead to 10 going into the fourth, but almost gave it away but the Physiotherapists (9-11) just couldn't knock down that key shot to bring it level.
Jimmy Hendricksen had 22 points and Steve Barton 18 for the winners, while Adam Millyard had 19 to lead the way in a losing cause.
In a really close race down the stretch, the final night decided the Herb Hales FT Shooting Award winner.
While a couple of players who were in the race, missed some from the charity stripe Monday, Mark Cummings went 2-2 in his game to sneak up from the rear and win the award by 0.2 percentage points over Andrew Lynch.
Cummings finished at 78.6 per cent, while Lynch was right behind at 76.4
