Elite Stars Elgin pulled off a massive comeback to beat Home Hardware 76-75 in a wild finish Wednesday night.
Trailing by 13 at the half, the Stars battled back in the third and took a 56-55 lead. Late in the fourth, with their backs agianst the wall and down by eight, they furiously came back to go ahead on a Rob Wakefield bucket with just 30 seconds to go.
With four seconds on the clock, Kamal Aizimi went to the line needing just one to tie and couldn't make either free throw. The Home Owners couldn't get off a game winning shot attempt as time expired.
The Stars (9-5) now re-take the league lead after outscoring their opponent 44-30 in the second half.
Wakefiled had 21, Josh Vigars 19 and Mike Morrison 17 for the winners.
Aizimi's 27 point effort which included 11 in the final frame was soured by how the game ended for the Home Owners (7-8). Mark Cummings had 18 points and Nav Baushal had 15 in a losing cause.

Ambrose Plumbing have won three in a row after a 100-82 blowout of Talbot Trail Physiotherapy (TTP). The Plumbers had this one wrapped up from the opening tip with Jimmy Hendricksen taking advantage of an opponent with no forwards available. He'd score 25 of his game high 39 for the Plumbers (7-6) who get above the .500 mark. Four others scored double digits with Merrck Mount (15), Steve Barton (14), Tyler Annett (13) and Andrew Lynch adding 11.
Ryan Pflanzer had 30 points and Geremey DeSchutter 28 for TTP (9-6) who drop a half game out of first.

In the other contest Cole-Munro Foods beat Mackie's 79-72 to improve to a game over. 500 and just one and a half out of top spot in a congested standings.
The Trout (8-7) came out of the gate hot scoring 31 opening quarter points against the OrangeAde's zone. After leading by 11 at the break, they extended their lead to 21 by the start of the fourth. However Mackie's didn't give up. A full court press caused some turnovers, and they cut the lead to as little as five in the final minute before falling.
Jack Girden scored 27 points with Oliver Taylor 18 and Andrew Cole 15 for the winners.
Tai Montfort lead four players in double figures for the OrangeAde's (3-11) who have dropped six in a row.
