STARS ON VERGE OF REGULAR SEASON TITLE
1/12/2026

Elite Stars Elgin could wrap up the Blair Clarke Memorial Trophy if they can win Wednesday night against Ambrose Plumbing.

The Stars (12-5) cruised to their fourth straight win, scoring a whopping 105 points in their 31-point win over Talbot Trail Monday.

The Stars got 17 first half points from Brian Apfelbeck and another 14 from Rob Wakefield as they opened up a 51-32 lead after 20 minutes.

That lead extended to 31 after three quarters as they forced turnovers and ran the break at will.

Wakeifeld finished with a team high 26 points, with Apfelbeck scoring 24 and Mike Morrison 20 for the winners.
Ryan Plfanzer had 39 in a losing cause including 10 triples for the Physiotherapists (10-8).

The only team capable of catching the Stars is Ambrose Plumbing who went through the motions to crush and undermanned Mackie's squad 108-53.

All six players for the Plumbers (8-8) scored in double figures including a game high 47 points from Jimmy Hendricksen. The big man had no one to contest him in the paint and he scored 21 field goals in the paint.

Blair Umeri had 14 points with Andrew Lynch and Merrick Mount adding 13 each with Mitch Jones scoring 11 and Tyler Annett 10. The Plumbers have to win out and hope the Stars lose two of their final games in order to win the regular season title.

Oliver Taylor had 20 points (filling in as a spare) for Mackie's (4-13) who once again played without their top two picks in the draft.

The other contest was the only close one of the night with Home Hardware (9-9) holding on for a 63-59 win over Cole-Munro Foods (9-9).

The Home Owners jumped out to a 41-33 lead in the opening half against a Trout squad which only had three of their own players, needing to pick up a couple spares.

However, the Trout slowly worked their way back into the game as Oliver Taylor knocked down three triples in the second half. They closed to as little as four late in the game, but could't get any closer.

Kamal Aizimi had 16 points, Juan Carranza and Ben Girden had 12 each for the winners. Taylor scored 26 and Jacob Dugas had 18 in a losing cause.
